Abstract

Pain is the unpleasant symptom sustained by sectio caesarea post-operation patients. The alternative to reduce pain is to use guided imagery relaxation technique but how effectiveness of this technique is still yet known. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of guided imagery relaxation techniques for pain relief in patients with sectio caesarean surgery on Melati Room 2nd Floor Dr. Soekardjo, Tasikmalaya, This study case used descriptive method as research method. In theory, using guided imagery relaxation technique on post sectio caesarea patient should be on the first day or ≤ 6 hour after operation, but in circumstances, it takes on second day or ≥ 6 hour post SC. This study takes 2 respondents with same complaint and different indication, where the first respondent had multipara P2AO indicated with breech head sc, while the second respondent had primipara P1A1O indicated with narrow pelvis. Therefore, guided imagery relaxation technique held for 3 consecutive days which is carried out on each day is 15 minutes. Before and after guided imagery relaxation was measured by NRS pain scale (1-10) to find out whether there is a reduction in pain or not. The results of nursing care showed that the two respondents were very effective in reducing pain after using guided imagery on 3 days treatment. The conclusion of this study is that guided imagery relaxation technique is effective in reducing pain. Based on the results of nursing care it is suggested that the researcher must find the right object so that the implementation is in accordance with what was planned. It is also recommended for nurses to improve capability and multiply following relaxation therapy exercises.
